International Ministries

The International Ministries Committee seeks “to share the love of God and the good news of Jesus Christ with all the peoples of the earth in partnership with local churches and development aid organizations.”

Missionary Sponsorship
Trinity participates in the ELCA's Missionary Sponsorship program by providing financial support for the work of Dr. Mark and Linda Jacobson in Arusha, Tanzania. Dr. Jacobson is the executive director or the Selian Lutheran Hospital, and his wife works with women to help them gain financial independence.

Mission Trips
In 2006, members of Holy Trinity traveled to Tanzania to visit Selian Lutheran Hospital, to visit the Jacobsons, and to see the global mission of the Lutheran church in action.

In 2003 and 2004, Trinity members visited El Paso Texas and Juarez Mexico for a border immersion experience and to establish relationships with Cristo Rey Medical Clinic serving the poorest of the poor along the border under the direction of Dr. Juana Mendoza.

The Annual Valentine Gift
This gift provides an offering of love to support a special international ministry chosen by the committee. Recipients include Selian Lutheran Hospital and the Cristo Rey Medical Clinic.

Fair Trade Coffee and Chocolate
These items are sold the second Sunday of each month in support of small farmers in poor countries and in partnership with Lutheran World Relief.

Education
Education about global peace and justice issues and about global mission happens on a regular basis in the Sunday morning adult forum and with our Sunday school children. In recent years, presentation topics have included: the Middle East, Tanzania, Sudan, East Timor and Haiti.

Holy Trinity Church is the spiritual heir of over two and one-half centuries of Christian witness in the Colony and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Originating a half-century before the Declaration of Independence, the congregation is the oldest in Lancaster and one of the oldest in Pennsylvania. The beautiful sanctuary stands today as one of America's front line colonial churches, historically and architecturally.
